Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

Overview of the Role

As we embark on our journey of growth and innovation, we are in search of a skilled Manager of FP&A to join our dynamic team. This pivotal role will serve as a guide to support our national vision, reporting directly to the CFO and collaborating closely with finance, innovation, business units, and senior leadership. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in reinforcing our growth strategies by delivering insightful financial analysis, strategic guidance, and decision-making support. A passion for innovation, data management, and strong analytical capabilities are essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively across various functions to establish a cutting-edge FP&A function that underpins our organization.

Your Responsibilities

  1. Financial Planning & Forecasting:
    Oversee financial planning and analysis activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. Develop and sustain the annual operating budget, capital budget, and monthly forecasts. Monitor and assess financial performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying discrepancies and proposing corrective measures.
  2. Strategic Analysis & Decision Support:
    Deliver actionable insights through financial modeling, scenario analysis, and sensitivity analysis to bolster strategic initiatives and business decisions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess current business operations and explore new business opportunities. Provide support for mergers and acquisitions (M&A) during the due diligence phase and integration of financial systems and data. Offer insights and recommendations to optimize investments and expenditures, enhancing cost efficiencies and maximizing ROI.
  3. Reporting & Performance Metrics:
    Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and presentations for senior leadership and other stakeholders as necessary. Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate business performance and ensure alignment with organizational objectives. Work closely with the Enterprise Technology and Innovation team to implement a robust data management program that enables swift, accurate, and secure business intelligence tools.
  4. Budget Management:
    Lead the budgeting process, collaborating with department heads to set budget targets, expenditure requests, and optimize resource allocation. Monitor adherence to budgets and provide regular updates on financial performance to department leaders and senior leadership. Partner with cross-functional teams to develop annual budgets and forecasts for innovation investments.
  5. Stakeholder Collaboration:
    Engage with internal stakeholders, including Finance, Operations, and Business Development teams, to drive cross-functional projects and initiatives. Collaborate with external partners, auditors, and consultants as required to support financial analysis and reporting needs. Ensure alignment and consistency in financial reporting and analysis through cross-functional collaboration. Prepare and present financial analysis and insights to senior leadership, emphasizing trends, opportunities, and risks within the business.
  6. Process Improvement and Innovation:
    Lead the budgeting process, working closely with department heads to establish budget targets, expenditure requests, and optimize resource allocation. Monitor budget adherence and provide regular updates on financial performance to department leaders and senior leadership. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop annual budgets and forecasts for innovation investments.
  7. Team Leadership & Development:
    Establish a premier FP&A program and strategy, including a future hiring plan. Manage and mentor a prospective team of financial analysts, fostering a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and high performance. Commit to ongoing professional development by staying informed on emerging trends and building leadership capacity.

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; CPA, CFA, or MBA preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in FP&A or finance roles, with exposure to innovation or automation tools.
  • Strong financial modeling skills and proficiency in Excel, Power BI, AI tools, and experience with financial planning software.
  • Experience with Deltek Vision, Unanet, and Vista is advantageous.
  • Experience in a professional service or construction management industry is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to distill complex data into actionable insights.
  • Proven ability to manage direct reports to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of conveying complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders and influencing decisions.
  • Demonstrated success in building relationships and collaborating effectively across organizational levels.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities efficiently.
