Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Occupational Therapist is to deliver high-quality, safe, effective, and evidence-based care related to patient functionality in partnership with patients and their families, adhering to the standards set by the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO) and Gghorg's mission, vision, values, and policies. The Occupational Therapist:

  • Evaluates patient functionality in areas such as activities of daily living (ADLs), instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs), transfers, functional mobility, cognition, perception, and emotional well-being.
  • Collects assessment data to formulate and execute a treatment plan that reflects patient and family-centered objectives aimed at enhancing clinical outcomes.
  • Exhibits interdisciplinary collaboration, communication, and cooperation both internally and externally concerning Occupational Therapy matters.

Works alongside interdisciplinary team members and community services to ensure a safe and timely transition to appropriate discharge settings.

Qualifications, Experience, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
  • Registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO).
  • Maintain membership with the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT) and/or the Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists (OSOT).
  • Previous experience in hospital rehabilitation settings.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in assessing and treating impairments related to activities of daily living (ADLs), instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs), transfers, functional mobility, cognition, perception, and emotional well-being.
  • Commitment to best practices, professional standards, and lifelong learning.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proficient critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
