About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Operations Manager to join our team at PRT. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of greenhouse and open compound seedling operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and lead a team of nursery workers to ensure efficient and effective production of conifer seedlings.
  • Assist the Nursery Manager in planning and achieving production targets, including sowing, thinning, lifting, blackout, cold storage, and shipping.
  • Ensure the proper maintenance of the facility and equipment, including greenhouse and open compound seedling production areas.
  • Finalize inventory and maintain accurate records of production and inventory levels.
  • Manage labor force and ensure safe working conditions and quality standards are met.
  • Correspond with customers and stakeholders to ensure excellent customer service and communication.
  • Follow and enforce safe work practices and promote a culture of safety within the team.
  • Encourage innovation and continuous improvement, and promote collaboration and teamwork at all levels.
  • Set targets and evaluate achievement, including production, timelines, and quality standards.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in horticulture, agriculture, or forestry, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 or more years of horticulture or crop production experience, including leadership roles.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to perform manual work, both indoor and outdoor, in varying weather conditions.
  • Proficient understanding of production processes, quality control principles, and safety regulations.
  • Strong planning, organization, and time management skills, with good problem-solving skills and ability to conduct root cause analysis.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills, with robust computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to communicate with honesty, kindness, and respect.
