HOURS OF WORK: 40-hour workweek / shift work / variable hours

SALARY GRADE: 5

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $86,091.00 – $ 96,853.00 per annum

MAXIMUM OF SALARY RANGE: $ 107,614.00 per annum

JOB TYPE: Management and Administration

AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:

This role involves overseeing the daily operations of the vehicle maintenance team to ensure that all transit buses are safe, functional, and clean, adhering to both corporate and regulatory standards.

Supervise maintenance personnel and equipment on a daily basis. Be available to address staff inquiries, provide on-the-job training, and offer clear guidance. Inspire team members, mediate conflicts, and investigate root causes of issues. Responsible for scheduling and coordinating staff activities to ensure efficient operations while ensuring compliance with regulations. Maintain accurate records and reports on various performance metrics. Ensure the completion and submission of necessary inspections, follow-up on health and safety inspections, and manage documentation related to accidents, warranties, and recalls. Lead by developing programs, schedules, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the team. Ensure that SOPs and equipment are current to enhance productivity while maintaining safety standards. Engage external suppliers for timely procurement of repair parts and services. Propose modifications to on-site procedures to adapt to regulatory changes and enhance customer service. Identify training needs within the team and communicate them to the Supervisor. Regularly share updates with the Supervisor and other stakeholders. Assist in budget preparation and establish financial controls. Represent the maintenance function in meetings and on committees as needed.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

EDUCATION:

Minimum high school (Grade 12) diploma or equivalent Ontario Motor Vehicle Mechanics Licence, class 310T

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

2 years experience in a Vehicle Maintenance environment, Heavy Duty Vehicles preferred, with 2 years experience as a team lead or supervisor in a unionized environment preferred

OTHER SKILLS AND ASSETS:

Strong knowledge of automotive and heavy truck components Ability to comprehend and document procedures (SOPs) in English Familiarity with Health & Safety regulations and other relevant legislation is an asset Proficient in using PC and Microsoft Office
