This role is tailored for individuals who are keen on focusing their expertise in business law, particularly in the realms of mergers and acquisitions, rather than litigation.

As part of the legal team at Soucy Service Centre, you will provide essential legal support to our diverse subsidiaries across various legal domains, including corporate governance, intellectual property, environmental law, and labor relations. Your contributions will be pivotal in managing legal risks and supporting our strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Evaluate, draft, and negotiate contracts pertinent to our business operations (such as supplier agreements and licenses), along with other necessary legal documents for effective business management (e.g., confidentiality agreements, legal notices).
  2. Interpret and analyze applicable laws, regulations, and legal documents to safeguard the interests and liabilities of the group companies.
  3. Work collaboratively with external legal advisors.
  4. Engage with department managers to provide legal insights on various matters.
  5. Ensure adherence to contractual obligations, corporate policies, and relevant laws and regulations.
  6. Identify legal challenges, assess potential solutions, and offer recommendations to meet business objectives.
  7. Contribute to the development, drafting, and implementation of standard operating procedures, policies, and contracts.

Qualifications

  1. Juris Doctor degree and active membership in the Quebec Bar or the Chambre des notaires.
  2. 5 to 10 years of experience in business law.
  3. Proficient in both spoken and written French and English, capable of drafting and translating contracts and communicating effectively with clients and their legal representatives in English.
  4. Exhibit professionalism, discretion, confidentiality, and integrity in all dealings.
