The Recreation Therapist plays a vital role in our community, fostering connections and enriching the lives of residents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assessing and implementing recreation therapy activities, including community outings, in alignment with established guidelines and individual care plans.
- Creating and maintaining personalized care plans that address the unique strengths, needs, and interests of residents, ensuring effective therapeutic recreation interventions.
- Conducting thorough evaluations of assessments, intervention strategies, program development, and delivery to guarantee the effectiveness of recreation services.
- Supervising recreation therapy assistants, ensuring accurate documentation and facilitating engaging activities while promoting reflective practices.
- Keeping precise and comprehensive records of care provided, documentation, and program development.
- Performing additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
- A university degree in Recreation/Leisure Studies or Health Sciences, complemented by a postgraduate qualification in Therapeutic Recreation from a recognized institution or equivalent experience.
- Active membership with the Therapeutic Recreation Ontario (TRO) for Ontario applicants or the BC Therapeutic Recreation Association for British Columbia applicants.
- Registered Recreation Therapist (R/TRO) or in the process of registration with TRO for Ontario applicants.
- A minimum of three years of experience working with seniors.
- Qualifications must align with MDS-RAI guidelines.
- Successful completion of the Vulnerable Sector Check for Ontario applicants or the Criminal Records Check for British Columbia applicants is mandatory.
