Position Overview

The Senior Project Specialist role is crucial in supporting Project Managers and Project Control Specialists in initiating and managing projects in alignment with our governance standards. This position involves providing guidance throughout the project lifecycle, including re-baselining, compliance audits, and portfolio reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Your daily tasks will include:

  • Assisting Project Managers with project initiation and alignment with governance standards.
  • Collaborating with Project Managers to create initial project schedules and lead resource allocation.
  • Supporting project re-baselining as necessary.
  • Ensuring alignment between cost data and project schedules for accurate performance tracking.
  • Conducting project audits to ensure adherence to procedures and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Recommending corrective actions and implementing lessons learned to enhance project performance.
  • Contributing to the development of procedures for effective project cost-schedule integration.
  • Generating consolidated reports to facilitate cross-departmental resource planning.
  • Preparing compliance reports to monitor project timelines and delays.
  • Occasional travel to collaborate with onsite teams.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering.
  • Over 8 years of experience in Project Controls or Project Management, preferably within the Canadian Nuclear Industry.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies, with PMP certification as an asset.
  • Proficiency in Primavera (P6) scheduling and Earned Value Management.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience in process development and implementation.
  • Knowledge of SAP or similar enterprise software.
  • A proactive approach to fast-paced environments and decision-making.
