Job Title: Youth Counsellor

We are seeking a qualified and motivated individual to fill the position of Youth Counsellor at Vantage Community Services.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will work with young people, providing a structured environment that fosters their personal and social development. The Youth Counsellor will be a contributing member of a team, working effectively with other members to provide a therapeutic milieu.

Responsibilities:
  • Implement and maintain a structured environment that promotes the development of personal and social functioning for each youth.
  • Be an effective, mature, and appropriate role model for each youth.
  • Work effectively with other team members to provide a therapeutic milieu.
  • Develop and maintain a therapeutic relationship with youth through the implementation of the Circle of Courage model.
  • Participate in supervisory meetings, team meetings, retreats, planning sessions, and in-service training as required.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure the upkeep of the group care living space.
  • Administer medication according to policy and CAC standards.
Requirements:
  • Diploma or undergraduate degree in Human Services, such as Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field.
  • Experience working with young people is preferred.
  • Current Standard First Aid/Level C CPR, PIC, IRC, and Valid Driver's License are required.

Vantage Community Services offers a competitive salary range of $36,811 - $48,811, plus an additional shift differential for overnight shifts. We also provide a great benefit package, including health, dental, life, and disability coverage, a Registered Pension Plan with 4% employer matching, and generous vacation time.
