**Job Summary**

The Operations Manager is a key leadership role within GFL Environmental, responsible for overseeing the business operations of the assigned division. This includes managing customer service, safety, operational efficiencies, and personnel management within the division. The Operations Manager is also responsible for managing revenue and cost elements, requiring involvement with sales and marketing initiatives, as well as day-to-day operations.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Oversee the operations of the division, ensuring effective planning, delegating, coordinating, staffing, organizing, and decision-making to attain profitable results.
  • Monitor budget and operating metrics, diagnosing and improving processes, procedures, and performance.
  • Execute necessary precautions to ensure safety and compliance with company standards and regulations.
  • Liaise with the Health and Safety team to investigate injuries and incidents, and implement consistent discipline and retraining.
  • Work closely with the HR team to oversee personnel needs, including selecting, coaching, disciplining, and training employees, and evaluating employee performance.
  • Participate in regular P&L reviews to ensure budgets are met, and develop and implement programs for optimal equipment utilization, equipment maintenance, and labor and material costs.
  • Manage and provide leadership for supervisors and direct reporting employees within the division.
  • Manage and attend all Health and Safety meetings, and train employees on safety issues.
  • Review employee timecards for accuracy on a daily basis.
  • Assist in forming business plans for tenders and other new business ventures.
  • Attend meetings as required.
  • Oversee that all employees are adhering to company policies and procedures.

**Requirements**

  • University diploma/degree in business or equivalent work experience required.
  • Minimum 5 years in an Operations Manager role.
  • Experience and strong knowledge in Waste Management Industry.
