Position Overview:
The Practical Nursing Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality care to clients, residents, and patients, ensuring they achieve and maintain optimal health through a patient-centered approach. This position operates within various healthcare settings, including acute care, transitional care, personal care homes, primary health care, public health initiatives, and home care services.
Key Responsibilities:
The incumbent will utilize the nursing process effectively, demonstrating full scope of practice while engaging in continuous professional development to uphold competency in line with organizational policies and professional standards. Responsibilities include:
- Applying nursing knowledge to assess and support the health needs of clients.
- Exercising independent judgment in prioritizing tasks and determining appropriate care methods.
- Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to enhance service quality and promote staff empowerment.
- Maintaining effective communication with clients and team members to foster positive relationships.
- Participating in quality improvement initiatives and contributing to program enhancements.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
- Active registration with the relevant nursing regulatory body.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
- Knowledge of professional standards and ethical guidelines relevant to practical nursing.
- Strong conflict resolution and communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and make informed decisions.
- Organizational skills to manage the demands of the position effectively.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and cultural competency.
