Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced Launch Services Senior Specialist to oversee the launch service providers and their associated suppliers, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations. This role involves the management of the development and qualification of launch dispensers, as well as the coordination of technical exchanges between launch providers, dispenser manufacturers, and satellite engineers.
Main Responsibilities:
- Oversee the launch vehicle service provider from a technical standpoint to ensure adherence to technical requirements and schedules.
- Monitor the launch dispenser provider to confirm that designs meet specifications and production is effectively established.
- Evaluate launch vehicle technical interface activities, providing regular updates to Program Management.
- Conduct necessary technical analyses in collaboration with launch service providers and manufacturers to ensure successful program execution.
- Engage with launch service providers and their suppliers to track technical progress and compliance with requirements.
- Support launch campaign planning and execution, interfacing with service providers at designated sites.
- Prepare presentations and status reports, serving as a key information source for external teams.
- Provide on-site oversight during launch operations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 15 years of extensive hands-on experience in complex satellite projects.
- Proven experience with launch vehicle interfaces in a telecommunications or satellite environment is strongly preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of launch vehicle technology and familiarity with launch site operations.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to navigate changing critical paths and their implications on project timelines.
- Familiarity with manufacturing and supply chain management is advantageous.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and French is a plus.
Decision-Making Authority: This position holds significant influence over the technical monitoring of the dispenser and launch vehicle for the Lightspeed program, requiring the incumbent to make informed recommendations and develop risk mitigation strategies.
Work Environment: The role primarily operates in an office setting, with potential extended periods at launch sites. Long-term travel to support launch campaigns, including international travel, is necessary. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada and obtain necessary security clearances.
