About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Apprentice Technician to join our team at OpenRoad Auto Group. As an Apprentice Technician, you will have the opportunity to work with a variety of OEM brands and gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced automotive service environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive repair orders from dispatch and perform work as outlined with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
  • Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts.
  • Examine vehicles to determine if additional safety or service work is required.
  • Save and tag parts if the job is under warranty or if requested by the customer.
  • Advise Service Advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the time promised.
  • Inform dispatcher when job is started, finished, or interrupted.
  • Maintain documentation of work performed.
  • Road-test vehicles to quality-check work performed, report any discrepancies to Service Manager.
  • Attend factory-sponsored training classes and stay up-to-date on factory technical bulletins.
  • Ensure customer vehicles are kept clean.
  • Keep shop area neat, clean, and free of safety hazards.
  • Comply with Federal, Provincial, and Municipal regulations regarding hazardous waste disposal.
  • Follow company safety policies and practices, and report any accidents to a Manager/Supervisor.
Requirements
  • Working knowledge of automotive equipment.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills to ensure delivery of high-quality work.
  • Highly self-motivated and organized individual.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills to effectively work with other Service Department team members.
  • Commitment to consistently delivering high-quality work.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions.
  • Valid British Columbia driver's license with a clean driving abstract.
  • Availability to work shift Saturdays.
