About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Security Advisor to enhance our expanding team.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Detect security incidents that require monitoring.
  2. Provide guidance and support throughout all development phases.
  3. Establish and implement essential risk metrics to systematically assess and report on information-related risks.
  4. Identify and categorize risks, then recommend appropriate mitigation or remediation strategies.
  5. Evaluate the risks linked to various options and suggest security solutions that balance potential losses with solution costs.
  6. Identify deficiencies in IT compliance controls and oversee the documentation, implementation, and testing of the entire IT compliance control framework.
  7. Stay updated on industry trends and proactively recommend the adoption of new security practices and technologies when beneficial.
  8. Conduct or coordinate application security assessments for project teams.
  9. Analyze the outcomes of application security assessments (such as code scanning and application intrusions).
  10. Educate development teams on application security standards, methodologies, and tools.
Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree in information security or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  2. 8 to 10 years of experience in cybersecurity, DevOps, or infrastructure roles.
  3. A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in information technology, particularly in information security.
  4. Familiarity with SIEM tools such as Microsoft Sentinel and Google.
  5. Experience with SOAR automation.
  6. Knowledge of User and Entity Behavior Analysis (UEBA).
  7. Comprehensive understanding of Kafka.
  8. Proficiency in Linux terminal operations.
  9. Security certifications are a plus.
  10. Strong grasp of application security principles and practices.
  11. Solid understanding of security risks and tools available in cloud environments like AWS.
  12. Experience in a DevSecOps - CI/CD setting.
  13. Awareness of common security vulnerabilities in data and cloud applications, informed by sources such as SANS, OWASP Top 10, and Cloud Security Alliance (CSA).
  14. Understanding of prevalent security issues in data and AI applications.
  15. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  16. Strong ethical standards and a solid understanding of business and information security ethics.
  17. No Canadian work experience is necessary; however, eligibility to work in Canada is required.
