The internal audit division presents an exciting opportunity for a Senior Internal Audit Specialist to leverage their expertise and experience in shaping and enhancing the function. The specialist will collaborate within a team to strategize and execute operational, financial, compliance, and technology risk-based audits across the North American region, while identifying value-added recommendations to fortify company processes and controls.
Location: Remote, North America
Key Responsibilities:
- Examine, assess, and report on the adequacy of internal controls.
- Review and evaluate financial, operational, technology, and governance processes and systems to ensure integrity and compliance.
- Utilize data analytics where appropriate and feasible.
- Engage in investigations, special audits, transaction due diligence, sustainability reporting, and provide subject-matter expertise as required.
- Participate in departmental projects aimed at identifying and sharing audit lessons learned, training, and continuous improvement.
- Review and assess the effectiveness of new business integrations, assisting with the implementation of IPL's internal controls and company policies in newly acquired businesses.
- Review and challenge the business on their quarterly internal controls certification submissions, validating that internal audit recommendations have been effectively implemented.
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
- Professional certification (CPA, CIA, CFE, CISA) or progress towards certification is advantageous.
- 2-3 years of experience in external/internal audit, accounting, finance (cost accounting, inventory control, FP&A, etc.), enterprise risk management, or relevant experience in a manufacturing setting is required.
- Understanding of SOX control design and operational effectiveness.
- Proficiency in data analytics tools such as Galvanize/ACL, IDEA, and visualization tools like Tableau.
- Strong Excel skills and proficiency in all Microsoft applications.
- Ability to prioritize issues and manage time efficiently.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the capability to communicate effectively with both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- Fluency in both verbal and written business English.
- Willingness to travel within the US and Canada.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to recognize broader impacts.
- Enjoy building partnerships and collaborating with others to achieve shared objectives.
