In the role of Community Engagement Specialist, you will play a crucial part in the Corporate Affairs team, overseeing Canfor's philanthropic initiatives and supporting community outreach efforts across Canada. Your responsibilities will include building enduring relationships and managing resources to create significant impacts that align with our corporate values. Working closely with the Manager of Community Relations, you will coordinate and implement Canfor's corporate giving strategy and support outreach initiatives.
Your responsibilities will encompass:
- Executing Canfor's comprehensive corporate giving strategy.
- Driving positive change through the development of strategic community partnerships.
- Enhancing Canfor's brand and relationships with local communities and stakeholders.
- Maintaining accurate forecasting and tracking of community giving budgets.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify giving opportunities and monitor applications.
- Creating evaluation mechanisms for community engagement and social investment, and preparing reports for leadership and charity compliance.
Support Canfor's community relations and outreach by:
- Admin Management
- Compiling and maintaining community profiles.
- Managing a database to track engagement and contacts, ensuring proactive resolution of concerns and alignment opportunities.
- Leading and supporting the planning and execution of events, managing logistics and staff attendance.
- Overseeing deliverables, timelines, and budgets.
- Conducting data management and analysis, including budgeting and forecasting.
Communications
- Preparing presentations, briefing notes, and communication materials for community and stakeholder meetings.
- Developing and executing marketing strategies to promote community engagement and social impact initiatives.
- Representing the company at various events.
- Creating communication plans and materials, including engaging content related to community engagement and social impact for all Canfor channels.
- Writing for various platforms, producing creative content, and crafting internal/external narratives about Canfor's community initiatives.
For this position, you should possess:
- A university degree or a combination of relevant education and experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in communications, community, or public relations.
- Experience in building relationships with internal departments, external partners, and vendors.
- The ability to take initiative and manage project requests effectively.
- Strong research, organizational, and project management skills.
- The capability to work collaboratively across multiple departments as well as independently.
- Solid skills in PowerPoint.
- Exceptional writing abilities across various styles and media.
- A strong collaborative spirit with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Comfort with data management and analysis, including budgeting and forecasting.
In an ideal scenario, you would also have experience in the resource sector, NGOs, finance, technology, non-profit organizations, or local/regional government.
