Job Title: Legal Counsel

We are seeking a highly skilled Legal Counsel to join our team at Shared Health in Winnipeg. As a Legal Counsel, you will play a critical role in supporting the needs of our service delivery organizations in the Manitoba health system.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will have a strong background in labour law and experience working in a unionized environment. You will be responsible for advising, educating, and consulting with management on a variety of health sector organizations and health authorities. Your work will involve managing grievance and arbitration files, collective bargaining support, and direct involvement in strategic planning and daily risk management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal advice and guidance to management on labour law matters
  • Support the development and implementation of labour relations strategies
  • Manage grievance and arbitration files, including preparing and presenting cases
  • Collaborate with management to develop and implement collective bargaining agreements
  • Provide training and education to management on labour law and labour relations
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have:

A Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or Juris Doctorate (J.D.)At least two (2) years of experience in the practice of labour law, supporting clients in unionized environmentsStrong leadership skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with management and other stakeholdersExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsWhat We Offer
