Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated individual to fill the role of Teaching Assistant for the Reproductive Physiology course within the Midwifery Education Program.
Key Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be responsible for:
- Preparing for and conducting classes, including the development of written and audiovisual materials.
- Maintaining and updating course-related resources.
- Assisting students with course assignments and facilitating their learning experience.
- Holding office hours for student consultations, including virtual meetings.
- Supporting the grading process for tests and assignments.
- Proctoring examinations and quizzes.
- Collaborating with the Supervising Instructor to enhance the educational experience.
- Engaging with students through various communication platforms.
- Coordinating virtual experiential learning opportunities as needed.
- Performing additional duties as assigned.
Work will be conducted on-site, and the Teaching Assistant must be available for in-person participation during scheduled class times.
Course Description
This course offers a comprehensive exploration of human reproductive systems, focusing on both intrinsic regulatory mechanisms and external influences affecting reproduction. It aims to provide a foundational understanding of normal reproductive processes and the impact of various medical conditions.
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in health sciences or a related field.
- Additional qualifications in midwifery or related disciplines are advantageous.
- Clinical experience or knowledge of midwifery practices in Ontario is preferred.
- Experience in virtual teaching environments is a plus.
- Prior teaching experience within the Midwifery Education Program is desirable.
The program values educators who incorporate principles of equity and social justice into their teaching methodologies. Preference will be given to candidates with experience working with diverse populations and those who demonstrate a commitment to inclusive teamwork.
