About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Construction Assistant to join our team at VOIX CONSTRUCTION INC. As a key member of our construction team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the successful completion of our projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Mix, pour, and spread materials such as concrete and asphalt to meet project specifications.
  • Assist in framing houses, erecting walls, and building roofs to ensure structural integrity.
  • Level earth to fine grade specifications, ensuring a smooth and even surface.
  • Pave and rake asphalt to create a durable and long-lasting surface.
  • Clean and pile salvaged materials, maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
  • Perform routine maintenance work, including removing rubble and debris from construction sites.
  • Tend or feed machines or equipment used in construction, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Direct traffic at or near construction sites, ensuring the safety of workers and the public.
Work Environment

As a Construction Assistant, you will work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and physically demanding tasks. You will be required to work outdoors, at heights, underground, and in confined spaces. You will also be exposed to noisy, dusty, cold, and hot conditions.

Requirements
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience.
  • 1 to less than 7 months of experience in a related field.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 9 kg (20 lbs) and work in a physically demanding environment.
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

This role requires a fast-paced environment, physically demanding tasks, and tight deadlines. You will be required to work in a variety of conditions, including outdoors, at heights, underground, and in confined spaces.

Language and Work Setting

This role requires English language proficiency and the ability to work in a remote location. You will be required to work on construction sites, which may involve working in a variety of environments and conditions.

Specialization or Experience

This role involves working in the construction industry, with a focus on building and infrastructure projects. You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, including driveways, industrial, commercial, and institutional, residential, sidewalks, and curbs, and roofing projects.

Transportation/Travel Information

You will be required to own a vehicle and have a valid driver's license. You will also be required to travel to and from construction sites, which may involve working in a variety of environments and conditions.
