We are currently in search of a Full-Time Surgical Clinical Assistant to support our team of Specialist General Surgeons.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute positively to patient care and outcomes within a dynamic healthcare environment.

The facility is a comprehensive acute care hospital equipped with various specialty services, including general surgery, orthopedic surgery, and more.

With multiple operating rooms and a range of surgical services, this position is integral to the surgical team.


Key Responsibilities:


As a Full-Time Surgical Clinical Assistant, your duties will include:

  • Assisting Specialist General Surgeons during various surgical procedures, including orthopedic and gynecological surgeries.
  • Monitoring and documenting patient physiological responses throughout surgical interventions.
  • Participating in clinical committees and contributing to research and special projects.
  • Maintaining and calibrating surgical equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Preparing patients for surgical procedures and conducting pre-operative assessments as required.
  • Assisting with the insertion of medical devices, such as IVs and nasogastric tubes.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary team members to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Utilizing critical thinking skills to assess and discuss patient management plans.

Employee Class: Regular Full Time

FTE: 1.00

Hours per Shift: 7.75

Shift Pattern: Varied shifts including days, evenings, nights, and weekends

Salary Range: $24.83 - $61.22

Required Qualifications:


The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in an Operating Room or Critical Care setting.
  • Registration with the Alberta Clinical and Surgical Assistant Program.
  • Current certifications in ACLS and NRP.
