Job Summary

Halton Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team in a critical care setting. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and Maintain Life Support Equipment: Ensure the proper functioning of invasive and non-invasive ventilators, anaesthetic gas machines, and other life support equipment.
  • Perform Diagnostic Testing: Conduct spirometry and arterial blood gas tests to diagnose and monitor respiratory conditions.
  • Initiate and Monitor Oxygen Therapy: Administer oxygen therapy as needed and monitor patients' response to treatment.
  • Respond to Emergencies: Participate in cardiac arrest codes and high-risk births, providing airway maintenance and resuscitation as required.
  • Intubate Patients: Perform intubation as ordered by physicians to ensure patients receive the necessary care.
  • Teach and Educate: Provide training and education to patients and staff on respiratory care and equipment operation.
  • Contribute to Quality Assurance: Participate in departmental quality assurance activities to ensure high standards of patient care.
  • Comply with Safety Requirements: Adhere to occupational health and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Assist with Policy Development: Contribute to the development and review of departmental policies and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Current Registration: Be registered with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario.
  • Certifications: Hold current Heart & Stroke approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Neonatal Resuscitation Certification (NRP).
  • Experience: Possess at least 3 years of experience in critical care and a minimum of 3 years of acute care experience for Milton and Georgetown positions.
  • Skills: Demonstrate excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a busy clinical environment.
