Job Summary

The Track Supervisor - Canada is a critical role responsible for overseeing the operations of an assigned territory, ensuring the safe and efficient movement of rail traffic. This position requires strong leadership and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Main Responsibilities
  • Manage engineering operations to ensure compliance with CN's operating plan and regulatory requirements.
  • Supervise a team of Assistant Track Supervisors and track inspectors to ensure rail safety and quality.
  • Coordinate track maintenance and repair activities, including rail replacement, tie replacement, and switch maintenance.
  • Develop and implement safety procedures to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement strategies to improve productivity and efficiency.
  • Manage budgets and workforce productivity to meet CN's Five Guiding Principles.
  • Communicate effectively with senior management, employees, and external stakeholders to ensure clear understanding of track conditions and daily production information.
Working Conditions

This role requires working in an office environment as well as outdoors in various weather conditions, with irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. The position may involve relocation and requires frequent travel (50%+), sometimes with short notice. The incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure, and manage stress.

Requirements
  • Relevant work experience in safety compliance, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.
  • Experience in budget management, labor relations, and supervising a unionized workforce.
  • Valid driver's license and completion of required courses and training for inspection and railroad operations.
  • Post-secondary diploma and high school diploma.
