Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Manager, we are looking for a Cultivation Technician for our Foss location at Redecan. This position involves the application of pesticides within our cultivation operations, ensuring the health and quality of our crops. The ideal candidate will hold a pesticide license and exhibit expertise in pesticide application techniques. This role demands a hands-on approach to cultivation tasks while adhering to safety regulations and company standards. Roles and Responsibilities: Adhere to strict internal protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) while complying with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). Interpret product labels accurately and measure pesticides according to specified rates. Administer pesticide sprays to crops in accordance with the Ontario Pesticide Applicators License and operational guidelines. Examine products for defects and promptly report any abnormalities to the supervisor. Identify signs of phytotoxicity, maintain the operational status of spraying equipment, and document cleaning activities. Collaborate effectively with colleagues and maintain open communication with supervisors and management. Receive guidance from Team Leads, Growers, and Master Growers regarding application methods. Maintain a clean and organized workspace and ensure team members do the same while communicating effectively with team leads. Engage in additional plant care tasks outside of spraying hours, including pruning, irrigation, planting, and harvesting. Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA, 2000). Follow the Cannabis Act, Cannabis Regulations, and any updates in Quality Assurance SOPs, policies, and guidelines. Apply pesticides according to established procedures and safety protocols. Monitor and manage the inventory of pesticide supplies. Inspect crops for pest and disease indicators, reporting findings to management. Work alongside cultivation team members to ensure timely and effective pesticide application. Operate and maintain spraying equipment and machinery. Comply with all regulatory requirements related to pesticide application and cultivation practices. Assist with other cultivation duties as necessary, such as watering, pruning, and harvesting. Qualifications and Education Requirements: A valid pesticide license is mandatory. Prior experience in agricultural or horticultural roles is preferred. Must be capable of lifting 25 pounds as required. Ability to work in a physically demanding environment and endure exposure to outdoor conditions. Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions precisely. Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team. Reliable transportation is essential. A high school diploma or equivalent education is required.
