About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialized Painter and Decorator to join our team at Marvel Cabinetry & Marvel Renovations. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality painting and decorating services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and Clean Surfaces: Prepare, clean, and sand surfaces to be painted, ensuring they are free from dust, dirt, and other contaminants.
  • Repair and Finish: Repair cracks and holes in surfaces, and apply a finish to match the surrounding area.
  • Paint and Finish: Mix paint to the desired color and texture, and apply it to interior and exterior surfaces using various techniques.
  • Wallpaper and Fabric Application: Measure, cut, and apply wallpaper and other fabric to walls, ensuring a smooth and even finish.
  • Customer Service: Advise clients on colors and choice of wall coverings, and provide guidance on the best options for their specific needs.
  • Equipment and Machinery Operation: Operate airless spray equipment, brush painting, conventional spray painting, electrostatic applications equipment, multi-ratio pump spraying, patterned rollers, roller painting, and thermal spray equipment.
  • Surface Preparation: Prepare surfaces for painting and decorating by drywall taping/patching, water/hydroblasting, steam cleaning, flame cleaning, and sandblasting.
  • Coating and Application: Apply coatings and finishes to surfaces, including novelty and decorative effects, multi-color finishes, powdered coatings, dipping, and paint spraying.
  • Wood Finishing: Apply wood finishes, including graining, marbleizing, staining, and glazing.
  • Wall Covering: Apply wall coverings, including wallpaper, vinyl, fabrics/upholstery, wood veneers, foils, and photographic murals.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in painting and decorating, or equivalent experience.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and with odors. Physically demanding work requiring bending, crouching, and kneeling.
  • Weight Handling: Ability to lift up to 9 kg (20 lbs).
  • Personal Suitability: Client focus, efficient interpersonal skills, flexibility, initiative, reliability, and team player.
