Established in 2015, One Chip Photonics specializes in developing Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs) utilizing Micro-Opto-Electro-Mechanical (MOEMS) accelerometers and Integrated-Photonics gyroscopes. The company is currently innovating a fully integrated optical solution aimed at the autonomous vehicle sector. We are assembling a dynamic and innovative team, proficient in optical device design and simulation, micro-fabrication, and characterization. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in electronics and photonics engineering, along with software interfacing, particularly regarding the interaction, propagation, analysis, and manipulation of optical waves. A hands-on experimentalist, the candidate should have practical experience in assembling and characterizing integrated optical devices, as well as a profound understanding of micro-optical sensors, especially in micro-optical resonators. We seek a self-driven, detail-oriented, and creative leader with excellent communication skills, who is an effective team player and capable of working independently with minimal supervision. Required Qualifications - Profound knowledge in micro-optical sensors, ideally in micro-optical resonators. - Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electro-Photonics, Physics (Optics), or a related field. - At least 3 years of professional experience in optoelectronics signal processing and/or Integrated-Photonics system design and testing is essential. - Significant experience in signal processing of electro-optical devices is required. - Practical experience with optical components such as splitters, circulators, isolators, phase modulators, lasers, detectors, and relevant software. - Demonstrated leadership and strong communication abilities. - Highly meticulous and detail-oriented to ensure adherence to design specifications, comprehensive documentation, and effective issue resolution. - Proven technical accomplishments, which may include relevant work experience, patents, successful projects, or publications. - Strong project management skills, adaptable to a fast-paced, innovative startup environment. - Self-motivated with excellent time management skills to deliver solutions within budget and tight timelines. - Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; proficient in articulating concepts, ideas, and strategies to both internal and external stakeholders. - Industry experience is mandatory. - Familiarity with cleanroom environments, motion sensors, and MEMS is advantageous. Key Responsibilities: - Define test specifications and validation requirements for inertial sensors (accelerometers, gyroscopes, and IMUs) while evaluating verification outcomes. This role requires the ability to identify, create, and document new metrics for sensing systems that enhance user experience. - Characterize PIC building blocks (Splitter, circulator, filters, resonators, etc.). - Previous experience with software tools such as OptiSpice, Lumerical Interconnect, Cadence Allegro/OrCad, Vivado, Matlab/Simulink, Spyder Python, GCC/G, Git, Altium Designer, or Labview is beneficial. - Collaborate closely with the hardware electronics team. - Develop, construct, and troubleshoot optical test setups for sensor characterization and conduct electro-optical experiments. - Analyze data and prepare reports. - Engage in all aspects of the design of opto-electronic devices. - Procure optical, electro-optical, and electronic components based on performance specifications.
