About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Technician to join our Engineering team at Englobe. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery of our projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply and promote Englobe's health and safety rules to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Assist Project Managers, Engineers, and Technicians in fulfilling multi-disciplinary civil, construction risk, and structural health monitoring projects across Southern Ontario.
  • Coordinate and perform pre-construction condition surveys, vibration and noise monitoring of buildings and structures for construction and blasting related projects.
  • Carry out field geotechnical materials testing and sampling at work sites, including soil compaction testing, concrete testing, asphalt field compaction and sampling.
  • Consistently execute prescribed company technical procedures, safe work practices, and work plans while completing field, laboratory, and office work.
  • Assist with the installation, commissioning, and monitoring of geotechnical and structural health instrumentation sensors and data collection networks.
  • Record test data and prepare factual reports, summaries, data sheets, or graphs for interpretation of test results by the supervisor.
  • Help maintain databases of records for pre-condition survey files, calibration certificates, equipment manuals, and applicable standards.
  • Participate in project management, site, and staff planning meetings.
  • Handle difficult situations with tact and diplomacy to maintain positive working relationships with all internal and external contacts.
Requirements
  • College Diploma in the Civil Engineering Field (Technician or Technology Level).
  • Understanding of civil engineering and construction.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to the team's goals.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Strong technical writing skills, ability to present information concisely and clearly in reports.
  • Proficient with use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to handle multi-tasking and maintain focus in a busy workplace.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Must be available on occasion to work evenings, nights, and weekends to meet project needs.
  • Ability to problem-solve and tackle new assignments effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to work out of town, if required.
  • Rotation work at remote mining sites is a possibility.
