Job Summary

We are looking for a seasoned professional with expertise in procurement, contract negotiation, and supply chain management to lead our contract specialist team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial negotiations, contract development, and supplier management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish Supplier Agreements: Develop and implement supplier agreements that reduce risk and add lifecycle value through various sourcing channels.
  • Lead Sourcing Events: Execute sourcing events on behalf of the company, ensuring compliance with governance and procedures.
  • Assess RFP Requirements: Review and advise on RFP requirements, coordinating with internal departments to ensure contractual obligations are met.
  • Coordinate with Suppliers: Work with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure governance and procedures are maintained throughout the procurement process.
  • Negotiate Commercial Agreements: Negotiate supplier commercial agreements, reviewing and advising on risk with agreement terms and conditions.
  • Manage Contract Documentation: Maintain and manage contract documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensure Supplier Pre-Qualification: Ensure suppliers are pre-qualified and support contractor performance management as required.
  • Identify Spend Opportunities: Proactively work with business unit partners to identify spend opportunities for strategic sourcing and contracting.
  • Develop Policies and Procedures: Support the SC Manager in developing fit-for-purpose policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with General Counsel: Collaborate with the general counsel to develop agreement and sourcing templates.
  • Provide Executive Summaries: Provide executive summaries and business case proposals for executive leadership team review.
Requirements
  • Minimum 7 Years of Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in a procurement role focused on contracting and sourcing.
  • Post-Secondary Education: Post-secondary education in Commerce, Finance, or Purchasing with a satisfactory business component and/or Supply Chain Management Association of Canada (SCMA), SCMP Designation or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in Agreement Negotiations: Experience in agreement negotiations, including commercial and legal terms and conditions.
  • Exceptional Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to problem solve, find alternative solutions, and think creatively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Proficient in Microsoft office applications, with superior skills in Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the Energy Industry: Experience in the energy industry is an asset.
