The Critical Care Registered Nurse:
•Provides high-quality patient care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.
•Enhances the quality of life for patients and their families, consulting and collaborating with other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care.
•Demonstrates a commitment to continuous improvement and evidence-based practice in nursing, staying up-to-date with the latest clinical guidelines and research.
•Maintains and advances own clinical competence, participating in ongoing education and professional development opportunities.
•Contributes to the development of a positive and supportive work environment, participating in designated hospital committees and teams as assigned.
This is a relief full-time opportunity until January 1, 2025, or the return of the incumbent.
Shifts of work will be scheduled days and nights, rotating from 07:00 to 19:15, 19:15 to 07:00 hours.
About this location/unit:
Our Patient Services Tower has been completed, and we have moved into our new Critical Care unit. The floor plan is four times the size of the vacated space, with room to expand to 16 beds.
The new space offers a large, bright working area with wide halls and plenty of storage areas, surrounded by windows. The new unit was designed to focus on the family unit as a whole, with three family areas: a waiting room, a quiet room, and a family overnight room. The natural light and private rooms create a positive experience for patients and family members.
Our new decentralized model moves the nurse and services right to the patient's bedside in satellite stations, providing access to all users in a quiet and soothing environment. The decentralized room provides optimal patient privacy and enhances private family interactions with the patient, nurse, and physician, as well as other allied team members such as social workers, clerical staff, physiotherapists, dietitians, and respiratory therapists.
VJH's Intensive Care Unit consists of 10 beds, with five RNs working day shifts and five working night shifts.
