Job Summary

As an Assistant Store Manager at Metro, you will play a key role in driving sales growth, optimizing store operations, and delivering exceptional customer experiences. This leadership position requires a strong business acumen, excellent communication skills, and the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Store Manager in achieving sales, profit, and margin targets, as well as labor and shrink targets.
  • Implement merchandising programs, procedures, and processes to maximize operational efficiencies and profitability.
  • Work with Department Managers to establish productivity goals and operational standards, ensuring merchandise is ordered and displayed according to company planograms.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment, adhering to company and regulatory standards.
  • Lead by example, hiring, training, directing, and developing a customer-focused team that embodies Metro's values and mission.
  • Stay up-to-date with new technology initiatives, ensuring personal and staff proficiency.
  • Monitor competitive activity in the local market and provide recommendations to Operations to overcome competitive disadvantages.
  • Participate in store-based initiatives to enhance community involvement and the store's image as a supporter of community activities.
  • Build strong relationships with vendors and union business representatives.
Requirements
  • College or University education.
  • 3 to 5 years of progressive management experience.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
  • Good business acumen.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Strong time management skills.
