Job Summary:
This position is responsible for maintaining a safe, reliable, and cost-effective fleet of vehicles and equipment at UPS. The successful candidate will ensure proper use and care of physical assets, prevent equipment failures, control costs, manage external vendor relationships, and work closely with mechanics and internal customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Schedule and review preventative maintenance inspections, monitor repairs, and perform vehicle audits to ensure adherence to safety, regulatory, and appearance standards.
- Analyze equipment or vehicle system failures to determine root causes and resolve problems, and plan and coordinate equipment repairs with internal and external groups.
- Ensure adequate inventory levels of parts, tires, and other supplies to support business processes.
- Adhere to purchasing limits, expense approval procedures, and equipment disposal guidelines to remain within budget.
- Review and approve automotive expenses.
- Determine employee training needs and develop continuous development plans.
- Conduct performance evaluations and resolve individual and group performance issues.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of mechanical fundamentals, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of vehicle or aircraft fleet operations.
- Ability to manage equipment repair and oversee the correction of problems with tools, machinery, and other standard technical equipment.
- Ability to manage inspections, physical assets, and working relationships with vendors.
