Job Description

AtkinsRéalis is a leading nuclear engineering group in Canada, providing a wide range of services to the nuclear industry for over 60 years. Our team of experts is engaged in probabilistic safety analysis (PSA) to support existing and new CANDU Nuclear Power Plants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and apply advanced analysis methodologies to perform PSAs and other PSA-related safety analyses.
  • Conduct reliability systems assessments, especially safety systems, balance of plant, and plant operation and safety-related systems.
  • Interface with clients/projects to assess operational and safety issues and advise on potential solutions.
  • Prepare and/or review work proposals for internal and external clients.
  • Develop risk monitors and generate risk assessments.
  • Stay up-to-date with PSA methodologies, codes, and standards, including Canadian, US, and IAEA guidelines.
  • Supervise staff in a multi-discipline setting, providing technical guidance and leadership to junior engineers and technical employees.
Requirements
  • Relevant Engineering degree with at least 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of the CANDU design, including NSP and BOP.
  • Broad knowledge of system operation, plant response, and understanding of underlying reliability principles.
  • Ability to work closely and effectively with clients in a client/consultant relationship.
  • Proficient in CAFTA suite of computer codes, CFAST, and/or RiskSpectrum.
  • Proven leadership skills, with good communication skills.
  • Experience in licensing activities is an asset.
  • Understanding of light water reactor design and PSAs is an asset.
  • Ability to work to budget and schedule, with occasional travel for walkdowns, meetings, and workshops.
