Nurse Practitioner - Community Commitment Program
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) operates as an independent healthcare provider with advanced training, delivering vital health services based on professional, ethical, and legal standards. The NP utilizes extensive knowledge of advanced nursing practices, health management, health promotion, and disease prevention to offer comprehensive healthcare services. This role involves collaboration with patients and other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care across diverse populations and various healthcare settings.
The Nurse Practitioner possesses an expanded scope of practice, which includes diagnosing conditions, prescribing medications, and ordering diagnostic tests. This role integrates the full spectrum of advanced nursing practice with additional responsibilities, including medical directives.
As part of the Community Commitment Program for Nurses, Mackenzie Health offers a limited number of exciting opportunities for Nurse Practitioners. This program provides significant financial support to eligible candidates in exchange for a commitment to work with an approved employer.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must not have been employed as a nurse in Ontario within the last six months.
- Must hold a valid Certificate of Registration (EC) from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Must be available to start employment within the specified timeframe.
- Must commit to a full-time work schedule for a minimum duration.
- Must not receive concurrent funding from the Ministry of Health for any other support programs.

- Plan, develop, and implement educational initiatives for healthcare providers and community members.

- Utilize advanced nursing assessment skills and a solid understanding of clinical therapeutics.
- Employ effective counseling techniques for patients and families.
- Exhibit strong organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Demonstrate a high level of initiative and self-direction.
- Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Maintain proficiency in computer applications relevant to the role.
