We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Engineering to join our team at Accor Hotels. As a key member of our hotel operations team, you will be responsible for maintaining the overall operation of the maintenance department, ensuring the appearance and working order of the hotel, and supporting the property's goals of guest satisfaction, cost control, and profitability.
Key Responsibilities- Contract Management: Review and negotiate contractual agreements with vendors, consultants, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure optimal terms and conditions.
- Availability and Emergency Response: Be available 24/7 to cover work shifts, emergencies, and safety concerns, and respond promptly to phone calls and alarms.
- Uniform and Grooming Compliance: Uphold department and company standards of uniform and grooming compliance at all times.
- Project Management: Manage, assign, and monitor work projects assigned by the General Manager, ensuring timely completion and quality standards.
- Supply Chain Management: Requisition supplies and materials to complete construction and remodeling projects, and maintain accurate records of purchases and budgetary data.
- Quality Control and Assurance: Develop and implement quality control programs to reduce labor costs and improve the quality of work, and delegate critical Preventative Maintenance tasks to hotel standards.
- Preventative Maintenance: Strategically plan and implement Preventative Maintenance schedules to ensure equipment and systems are functioning optimally, and delegate tasks to ensure compliance.
- Team Management: Direct the Assistant Manager of Engineering to monitor and control parts and labor expenditures, and work closely with People & Culture to select, train, supervise, develop, discipline, and counsel employees.
- Communication and Leadership: Communicate proactively with the direct supervisor regarding all aspects of engineering operations, and demonstrate positive leadership characteristics to inspire employees and other department leaders.
- Record-Keeping and Compliance: Maintain accurate records of engineering operations, and ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Life Systems and Safety: Ensure all life systems are operational and meet all requirements, and respond promptly to alarms and safety concerns.
- Risk Management: Fulfill risk control duties as assigned, and work closely with the Security Manager to ensure safety, EPA, HazCom, and OSHA procedures are followed.
- Physical Plant and Equipment: Inspect and document physical plant, equipment, hazards, systems, and the general engineering operation, and maintain work areas in a safe, clean, and organized manner.
- Performance Appraisals and Budgeting: Manage performance appraisals, and work closely with the General Manager to develop and manage the engineering budget.
- Meetings and Initiatives: Attend all mandatory meetings, and support all Safety Programs and Initiatives as needed.
- Experience: 8 years or more of progressive hotel or building management experience, with previous hotel pre-opening experience preferred.
- Education: Bachelor Degree in Engineering or Facilities Management in Business with 5 years of management experience preferred.
- Working Conditions and Physical Demands: Ability to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods, stoop, kneel, bend at the waist, and reach on a daily basis, lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally, and stand during shifts.
$120,000.00 to $130,000.00 per year.
