The Medical Director, Indigenous Health is a key leadership position that plays a crucial role in ensuring high-quality services for Indigenous communities. As a co-leader, you will work collaboratively with others to drive continuous quality improvement and ensure efficient, effective, and integrated service delivery across Island Health sites.
Main Responsibilities- Leadership: Co-lead and oversee activities to ensure program service delivery is efficient, effective, and integrated across Island Health sites; link with appropriate Departmental Medical Leaders to address matters of physician governance, including professional medical practice issues.
- Operations & Quality: Establish processes and structures to engage physicians and staff in continuous quality improvement of service delivery; monitor program budget and performance jointly with co-leader, and make course corrections when necessary; ensure appropriate investigation and resolution of program-related Patient Safety Learning System and Patient Care Quality Office events.
- Change Management: Co-develop and implement change management plans to engage and support physicians and staff through change.
- Planning: Assess, monitor, and anticipate program resource needs and work with medical leaders and administrative leaders to prioritize these needs within available resources.
- Work collaboratively in a co-leadership model with assigned Director(s)
- Collaborate with Island Health Community Medical Directors to move health care initiatives forward for First Nation communities
- Partner with FNHA on collaborative initiatives in health care for First Nation communities
- Represent the Indigenous health portfolio at HAMAC
- Collaborate with Medical and Academic Affairs to collaborate on initiatives pertaining to the Island Health medical staff
- Participate in orientation and training
