Job Title: Director, Content

We are Explore Edmonton Corporation, a leading Destination Management and Marketing Organization. We are seeking a highly skilled Director, Content to join our team on a temporary basis for 12-18 months.

About the Role

The Director, Content will be responsible for implementing and monitoring the business planning, campaign planning, target setting, and overall strategic marketing direction for our Digital Marketing, Digital Content, and Influencer Relations teams. This role will oversee all marketing activities undertaken by these groups, with the goal of determining content marketing direction, identifying opportunities, increasing brand/reputation, and staying on the cutting edge of content for use in campaigns amplified by performance marketing, SEO, influencer, and website accessibility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the workloads and strategic alignment of the Creative & Digital Marketing Team
  • Collaborate with the Senior Director, Global Marketing to ensure work is resourced and supported by the entire Explore Edmonton marketing team
  • Contribute to yearly business planning and collaborate with the Creative & Digital Marketing team to develop yearly marketing actions, targets, and measures
  • Develop strategies that increase collaboration, resource sharing, and operational efficiencies across the Creative & Digital Marketing team and throughout Explore Edmonton
  • Set and manage yearly actions, targets, and measures
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders, community partners, and industry representatives
  • Oversee the development of digital marketing, digital content, and influencer relations media planning, online/digital marketing, and content marketing/development strategies
  • Oversee web architecture, functionality, and design strategy for ExploreEdmonton.com
  • Lead Digital Marketing Manager to provide cadence of analytics and reporting
  • Collaborate with Digital Marketing Manager to develop marketing strategies that support the increase of revenue and event conversions
  • Collaborate with Marketing Account Manager Teams to support owned event, venue, and tourism attraction marketing strategies
  • Lead the business case planning, request for proposal, and contractor selection process for major content and digital campaigns
  • Oversee consumer-facing written content ensuring all content is on-brand and optimized for search and user experience
  • Oversee the Creative & Digital Marketing Team, including direct reports
  • Oversee team/project management software processes and support creative campaign workflows
  • Set and communicate clear performance expectations
  • Research and secure professional development opportunities for the Creative & Digital Marketing Team
  • Develop the yearly marketing budgets for Creative & Digital Marketing initiatives
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in business (marketing), communications or related field
  • 5+ years leadership experience in a digital marketing and content development environment
  • Proven experience assessing and identifying risks and applying sound risk management strategies
  • Ability to pivot direction based on changing strategic priorities
  • Strong knowledge and demonstrated experience with traditional, digital, and social marketing practices
  • Strong knowledge and demonstrated experience with public relations, media relations, issues management, and crisis communications
  • Strong writing and editing skills with a keen eye for detail
  • Previous management experience with demonstrated ability to build successful teams
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and digital marketing tools
  • Previous digital tourism industry knowledge and experience is considered an asset
  • Familiarity with Adobe suite of software is considered an asset
What We Offer

Hybrid working schedule with in-office time split between Edmonton Convention Centre, Edmonton EXPO Centre, and World Trade Centre. Occasional overtime and travel may be required.

Please note that this is a temporary position for 12 months, with the possibility of being extended up to 18 months.
