JOB SUMMARY

Vitalité Health Network is seeking a dedicated Pathology Services Specialist to support our pathology department. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in various pathology functions under the supervision of a certified Pathologist. Key responsibilities include the handling, preparation, dissection, and macroscopic examination of surgical specimens, along with the documentation and verbal reporting of findings. The Specialist will also be involved in selecting and forwarding samples for pathological evaluation by the Pathologist.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assisting in medical and forensic autopsies;
  • Contributing to the development of protocols and procedures;
  • Managing inventory within the macroscopy area;
  • Providing training and orientation to laboratory staff, students, and healthcare professionals regarding surgical tissue processing and post-mortem analysis.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A degree from an accredited Master's program for Pathology Assistants or equivalent training and experience as recognized by the Canadian Association of Pathologists;
  • Current registration with the Canadian Association of Pathologists;
  • A minimum of one year of relevant experience as a Pathology Assistant is preferred;
  • Excellent teaching, communication, and interpersonal skills;
  • Proven leadership capabilities;
  • Adaptability to dynamic work environments;
  • Proficiency in aseptic laboratory practices;
  • Experience in policy formulation and maintenance;
  • Familiarity with computer applications;
  • Strong analytical abilities;
  • Team-oriented with the capacity to work autonomously;

  • Initiative, sound judgment, and meticulous attention to detail;
