Fluvial Geomorphologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Fluvial Geomorphologist to join our team at Montrose Environmental Group. As a key member of our Eastern Surface Water Team, you will be responsible for leading or participating in various projects related to river processes.
About the RoleAs a Fluvial Geomorphologist, you will work with a diverse team of experts to deliver responsive, locally connected, and scalable solutions to our clients. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Active participation in maintaining our strong safety culture
- Managing and executing a variety of geomorphology projects
- Providing technical input into stream restoration projects based on channel processes
- Mentoring and training junior team members on field data collection and reporting support
- Completing geomorphic and hydraulic analyses to evaluate channel erosion thresholds
- Assisting in erosion hazard assessment studies and evaluating risks
- Assisting in the completion of performance monitoring studies
- Preparing technical reports, work plans, and supporting business development initiatives
- Building strong client relationships and liaising with stakeholders
- Assisting multidisciplinary project teams to achieve project goals and objectives
- Advancing individual knowledge and experience in watershed management, stream restoration, and applied geomorphology
- Traveling as required within Southern Ontario to support field programs
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's degree in Environmental or Earth sciences, Physical Geography, Water Resources/Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field
- 7 years of experience in fluvial geomorphology or water resources engineering, specifically related to the assessment, design, and construction of water resources projects
- Eligibility for, or registration as a Professional Geoscientist or Professional Engineer
- Strong analytical and field capabilities
- A professional, collaborative approach, and the ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team providing outstanding client service
- Knowledge and experience in natural channel design concepts, surface water management, design/drafting software, and hydraulic/hydrologic and sediment transport models
- Complimentary skill sets such as hydrology, aquatic biology, and familiarity with engineering models (HEC-RAS), ArcGIS software, and AutoCAD
- Strong ability to convey complex concepts in a clear and concise manner, both verbally and written
- A client-focused, self-motivated individual, possessing strong interpersonal and communication skills
- A valid Class G driver's license with no restrictions
