About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Correctional Peace Officer to join our team at Medicine Hat College. As a Correctional Peace Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining the safety and security of our facilities and ensuring the well-being of our students and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor offender movement and conduct patrols and counts to ensure the care and custody of offenders.
  • Manage behavior and complete searches to maintain a secure environment.
  • Complete administrative duties, including report writing and data entry.
  • Provide support and guidance to offenders, acting as a positive role model and developing an in-depth knowledge of behaviors and personalities.
Requirements
  • High School diploma plus a minimum of two years of experience in a related field.
  • Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level-C Certification with AED.
  • Current Certified Criminal Records Check (with fingerprints and issued within the last six months).
  • Ability to work in a team environment and possess critical thinking skills.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills, along with basic computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a Correctional Peace Officer or Correctional Services Worker with our department or equivalent with a Provincial or Federal jurisdiction.
  • Previous experience as a police officer or auxiliary police member.
  • Military Service with focus on protection/security.
  • Emergency response experience: EMT; Firefighter.
