Located in Moncton, New Brunswick, the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Advisor will report to the EHS Manager and provide support to AIM's Recycling facility in Moncton, as well as assist other sites in the Atlantic Region. Collaborating closely with the EHS team and Site Managers, the successful candidate will advise and aid in the planning, organization, monitoring, and evaluation of daily site operations, incident management, and occupational disease prevention.
Key Responsibilities:- Fostering the continuous development of an EHS culture among all managers and employees.
- Advising and collaborating with managers on strategic EHS initiatives, programs, procedures, and tools.
- Assisting and training supervisors in conducting workplace inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Performing occupational risk assessments and recommending preventive measures.
- Conducting investigations and analyzing work-related incidents with supervisors and managers.
- Supporting and auditing the effectiveness of preventive measures.
- Engaging with regulatory bodies and third parties for inspections or investigations.
- Responding to inquiries from employees and internal/external customers regarding occupational health and safety.
- Planning and conducting internal training sessions and monitoring the completion of mandatory EHS training.
- Tracking and reporting on various EHS metrics and key performance indicators.
- Conducting orientation sessions for new hires and participating in onboarding activities as necessary.
- Assisting in the implementation of corporate EHS programs, policies, and initiatives.
- Advising and supporting the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
- Performing all other related tasks associated with EHS responsibilities.
- A minimum of a college diploma in EHS, university certifications, or equivalent experience.
- Five years of experience in an EHS role.
- Strong understanding of relevant Acts and Regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional planning, organizational, and adaptability skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail is essential.
- Technical skills gained in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Ability to multitask and demonstrate rigor.
- Proactive, autonomous, and customer-focused approach.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in high-pressure situations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a capacity for innovative thinking.
- Maintain confidentiality, discretion, and diplomacy in all actions.
- Possess a valid driver's license.
