Job Title: Geriatric Psychiatrist

Job Summary:

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a part-time Geriatric Psychiatrist to join our interdisciplinary team in caring for patients over 65 with mental health problems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Practice person-centered care and utilize a team-based approach to provide consultations and longer-term psychiatric care as necessary.
  • Provide culturally safe and responsive care for Indigenous patients and practice trauma-informed care.
  • Include families whenever possible and employ principles of community-based psychiatric care.
  • Collaborate in the management of concurrent substance use disorders and provide expertise and consults as needed.
  • Facilitate continuity of care between acute and community settings and liaise with hospital physicians and staff as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Provisional or unrestricted license to practice medicine from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia.
  • Fellowship in Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians of Canada, and ideally completion of a Geriatric Psychiatry Subspecialty Residency training.
  • Eligibility or current appointment as clinical faculty with the University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine.
  • Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) - Mandatory.
