Academic Gastroenterologist Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced academic gastroenterologist with a strong research focus in translational (bench-to-bedside) research in neuro-gastroenterology and motility. This position also requires expertise in endoscopic ultrasound, device-assisted enteroscopy, and other advanced endoscopic procedures including complex polyp resection, and third-space endoscopy.

This is a full-time faculty position for a period of three years (renewable). Academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience.

The successful candidate will be a full-time member of the Division of Gastroenterology and will be expected to contribute to the academic mission of the Faculty and Division. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in lab-based research in the fields of neuro-gastroenterology and microbiota-host interactions, and experience in working in an interdisciplinary research team.

In addition, the candidate must have a strong commitment to high-quality patient care as well as a proven track record in performing the above-described advanced endoscopic procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct research in neuro-gastroenterology and motility, with a focus on translational research.
  2. Develop and implement advanced endoscopic procedures, including endoscopic ultrasound and device-assisted enteroscopy.
  3. Collaborate with interdisciplinary research teams to advance knowledge in neuro-gastroenterology and motility.
  4. Provide high-quality patient care, including performing advanced endoscopic procedures.
  5. Develop and implement educational programs for students, residents, and faculty.
Qualifications:
  1. Completion of Residency training in Gastroenterology.
  2. Strong track record in neuro-gastroenterology and motility research, with a translational focus.
  3. Proven expertise in performing motility procedures, including esophageal manometry and 24-hour pH monitoring.
  4. Demonstrated expertise in endoscopic ultrasound, device-assisted enteroscopy, complex polyp resection, and third-space endoscopy.
  5. Strong clinical skills, including the ability to manage complex endoscopic cases and provide high-quality patient care.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Applicants should be certified (or eligible for certification) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the Province of Ontario.
