About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Assurance Lead to join our team at Metrolinx. As a key member of our Capital Projects Group, you will be responsible for providing leadership and direction to staff and project teams, ensuring the quality and consistency of work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides leadership and direction to staff and project teams, ensuring the quality and consistency of work.
  • Manages staff performance to ensure adherence to timelines and objectives, addressing any performance gaps through corrective actions and timely feedback.
  • Accountable for timely data and information regarding the status of all aspects of the project's quality assurance, including recommendations for resolving any non-compliance.
  • Responsible for the CPG Quality Management System, including project-specific plans, processes, and procedures, and guides as extensions to and consistent with the CPG Quality Management System.
  • Leads a comprehensive quality audit program for the project, including internal and external audits based on project risk criteria, conducting and/or participating in audits, and attending contractor internal audits.
  • Responsible for the Project Quality Management Plan, detailing applicable processes from the CPG Quality Management System to meet the objectives of the project, consistent with CPG strategy and objectives, and in alignment with the Integrated Project Delivery Team and Manager, CPG Program Quality Assurance.
  • Responsible for drafting the assigned project's Project Quality Assurance Plan for approval by Project Leadership, drawing on available processes in the QMS as applicable to the objectives and lifecycle position of the project.
  • Responsible for identifying, developing, analyzing, amalgamating trends, distilling insights, and reporting quality metrics and managing agreed key performance indicators for the project, including quality management system performance.
  • Responsible for training the Integrated Project Delivery Team on the Project Quality Assurance Plan, CPG Quality Management System, Non-Conformance, and Continual Improvement, by way of workshops, courses, online education, and orientation (onboarding) of Integrated Project Delivery Team members.
  • Responsible for reviewing 2nd Party contracted quality submissions, analyzing, distilling, providing insights, highlighting gaps, and providing initial findings and recommendations to the owner for revisions or approval/rejection decisions.
  • Supports the development and application of audit on the Integrated Project Delivery Team and 2nd Parties (direct contracted parties) with respect to compliance with CPG Quality Management System and contracted obligations, alongside the Integrated Project Delivery Team and Manager, CPG Quality Audit.
  • Supports the implementation and integration of continual improvement initiatives as identified by continuous improvement processes to create efficient and streamlined processes.
  • Develops and implements effective quality assurance strategies and tactics supported by data-driven analysis and observed, rationalized industry practices, in alignment with the Integrated Project Delivery Team and Manager, CPG Program Quality Assurance.

  • Demonstrable exceptional technical skill in quality assurance, including the creation and delivery of detailed Project Quality Assurance Plan.
  • Highly skilled in quality assurance theory, principles, and practice.
  • Comprehensive understanding of broader project management theory, principles, and practice.
  • Strong leadership skills to motivate a team, set high standards and clear expectations, manage expectations and outputs.
  • Highly articulate with practiced presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Excellent people skills and ability to communicate/interface effectively across the organization and external stakeholders.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with excellent verbal, written, presentation, and communication skills and confident leading meetings of diverse and potentially numerous members.
  • Demonstrable experience of successfully managing competing objectives of external and internal stakeholders and recognizing materiality.
  • Highly skilled at addressing and engaging leaders across the project and organization.
