Position Overview

The Network Operations Specialist, under the guidance of the Supervisor of the System Operations Control Centre, plays a crucial role in collaborating with the SOCC and Airport divisions, along with external partners, to manage operational functions throughout Porter's extensive network.

The Station Operations Coordinators, in partnership with a Flight Dispatcher, are tasked with the prompt distribution of clear and precise operational updates across the organization, especially during periods of irregular operations.

Key Responsibilities

The Network Operations Specialist is accountable for:

  • Coordinating operational functions across the Porter network and aiding in contingency and recovery strategies during significant irregular operations (IROPs).
  • Monitoring connection passenger loads and collaborating with the Duty Officer to foresee potential misconnection scenarios.
  • Maintaining consistent communication with outstations to proactively implement measures that minimize the occurrence of misconnecting passengers.
  • Facilitating swift activation of the Emergency Response Plan, managing non-emergency abnormal incident responses, and ensuring effective communication through the Everbridge Mass Notification system.
  • Providing procedural guidance and routine technical assistance to frontline agents while coordinating responses to system outages and transitioning to manual or backup processes.
  • Ensuring passengers receive timely notifications regarding flight disruptions and cancellations through Porter's passenger reprotection application.
  • Processing delay reports and participating in the audit and reconciliation of delay codes.
  • Managing APIS/API reconciliation and communication with the US Department of Homeland Security, CBP, and CBSA.
  • Assisting in the investigation and resolution of DHS violations and API data quality issues to prevent substantial fines against the Company.
  • Maintaining a comprehensive understanding of Company policies and procedures, as well as Transport Canada regulations and those of other domestic and international regulatory bodies.
  • Actively engaging in Porter's Safety Management System (SMS), including reporting hazards and incidents encountered during daily operations; understanding, adhering to, and promoting the Company Safety Policy.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor, SOCC, or designated representative.

Qualifications

A minimum of 2 years' experience in airline operations and/or a supervisory role within the industry is required. Candidates should demonstrate a conscientious and safety-oriented mindset, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, and have a proven ability to work effectively within a cross-functional team. The ability to adapt swiftly to new circumstances, solve problems, and drive positive change in a fast-paced, dynamic environment is essential. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the capability to manage multiple tasks are necessary. A clear attendance record, reliability in reporting for work on time, and flexibility to work rotating morning and overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays are also required. Candidates must be able to obtain a Transport Canada Restricted Area Identification Card (Security Clearance).
