Job Summary

An Industrial Electrician at Magna International is responsible for the installation, servicing, and maintenance of electrical apparatus to support production needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive instructions and prioritize tasks
  • Design, fabricate, install, program, and test new and modified equipment
  • Collaborate with other departments for equipment troubleshooting and facility concerns
  • Perform repairs in a timely and efficient manner
  • Evaluate jobs, estimate time, and obtain necessary tools and materials
  • Read, interpret, and alter electrical wiring diagrams
  • Troubleshoot electrical control problems
  • Carry out preventative maintenance work
  • Operate fork lifts and high lifts as required
  • Assist other maintenance departments and personnel
  • Liaise with production, toolroom, engineering, and quality control
  • Communicate with outside contractors and suppliers
  • Complete daily time sheets

Qualifications

  • Certified Electrician with appropriate papers
  • Ability to read, interpret, and amend detailed machine blueprints
  • Working knowledge of PLC programming, primarily with Allen Bradley, Omron, and Texas Instruments controllers
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently
