About the Role:

The Diagnostic Imaging Department Manager is accountable for the integrated day-to-day business operations of the Diagnostic Imaging Department at Alberta Health Services. This includes strategic planning for all services areas, identifying and responding to site and operational needs, and establishing effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direction, leadership, and organization for initiatives and programs within the Diagnostic Imaging department.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate Provincial Diagnostic Imaging business plans and priorities in consultation with the Director and through effective partnerships and collaboration within AHS and stakeholders.
  • Ensure objectives translate to work plans with defined timelines, key deliverables that are comprehensive and transformational with on-going processes for operational sustainability.
  • Promote and maintain a healthy work environment, demonstrating leadership skills with human resource functions including recruitment, coaching, clinical supervision, scheduling, performance appraisal, and management within a unionized environment.
  • Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with physicians, healthcare providers, and leaders in other program areas.
  • Balance multiple competing demands and conflicting priorities, using analytical and decision-making skills based on a framework of patient and family-centered care, safety, and quality improvement.
  • Motivate others to achieve organizational goals through effective facilitation of proven change management principles within teams.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to use good judgment, make sound decisions, and practice strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with medical, professional, technical, and clerical staff.
  • Team-building skills and ability to promote collaborative decision-making processes.
  • Patient-focused care with excellent interpersonal communication skills.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the complex Imaging environment, including the specialized requirements of the various modalities.
