Island Health is seeking a highly skilled Addiction Medicine Physician to join our Complex Care Housing Team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide comprehensive medical care to individuals with complex mental health and substance use disorders.
Key Responsibilities- Provide primary care services to clients with acute and chronic medical conditions, including persistent mental health and/or substance use disorders.
- Screen and treat clients for STIs and viral blood-borne illnesses.
- Refer clients to specialty services as needed.
- Deliver addiction medicine services, including assessment and provision of OAT, alcohol anti-craving medications, Safer Supply, harm reduction, and low-risk alcohol withdrawal management.
- Collaborate with program Psychiatrists to provide mental health support, including assessment, referral, and continuation of psychiatric medications.
- Methadone prescribing ability.
- Advanced addiction medicine skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Clinic space and medical equipment provided.
- Support staff and resources to ensure continuity of care.
