Director of Automotive Electric Control Laboratory

The Automotive Electric Control Technology Laboratory will be pivotal in the Digital Power Business Unit, specializing in advanced electric drive control, architectural innovation, design, and strategic engineering for automotive applications, including drivetrain systems, DC-AC inverters, and integrated driving components, along with advanced AI and cloud technologies.

As a member of the Automotive R&D Competence Center, you will contribute to cutting-edge research and development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Lab Director for Automotive Electric Control Technology (m/f/d)

Your Mission:

As the Lab Director, you will lead pioneering research in automotive electric control technologies, addressing technological challenges and spearheading industry-leading innovations.

Your Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Innovative Leadership: Direct transformative research in automotive electric control, overcoming technological hurdles and driving advancements in the industry.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Lead significant EU projects, cultivate collaborations with premier research institutions, and engage with key clients and industry partners to integrate into the European research ecosystem.
  • Industry Insight: Remain at the forefront of industry trends to develop effective research strategies, advancing vehicle dynamics, motion control, and drivetrain technologies.
  • Team Management: Guide and motivate local teams across various business modules, fostering a high-performance work environment.
  • Technical Expertise: Design and analyze hardware, algorithms, and architectures based on system specifications, with a focus on drivetrain technology, braking systems, vehicle stability control, and advanced control algorithms.
  • Concept Development: Lead proposals for drivetrain systems, function development, performance enhancement, and thorough evaluations. Oversee the development and integration of brake-by-wire technologies from concept through testing.

Requirements:

Your Areas of Expertise:

  • Educational Background: A Master's degree or higher in vehicle, mechanical, electrical/electronic engineering, automation, or related disciplines.
  • Industry Experience: Significant experience in drivetrain and braking systems, with a recognized influence in areas such as power electronics, vehicle dynamics, and braking technologies.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in EPS, ESC, torque vectoring, and integrated chassis control algorithms. Experience with Matlab/Simulink, CarSim/IPG CarMaker, and Catia for modeling and simulation.
  • Professional Influence: Established connections within international research, standards, or academic organizations. Proven success in drivetrain development and vehicle stability, with hands-on experience in at least two mass production products.
  • Strategic Vision: A global perspective complemented by strong cross-cultural communication and coordination skills. Proficiency in written and spoken English, with English as the working language.
