Position Overview

The Rural Damage Estimator is tasked with evaluating vehicle damage across various types of automobiles. This role involves conducting assessments at both service centers and remote locations, including off-site repair shops and towing facilities. The primary responsibility is to inspect vehicle damages and provide accurate repair cost estimates.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct inspections of vehicles at service centers and remote estimating sites. Validate damage and prepare comprehensive damage assessments using automated estimating tools, adhering to industry standards and OEM repair guidelines.
  • Coordinate and execute road call assessments to maintain exceptional service levels for clients and repair facilities.
  • Examine supplementary estimates and initial assessments from repair facilities for accuracy; authorize additional repairs in line with industry standards and OEM protocols.
  • Assess Direct Repair submissions and associated documentation to ensure precision, approving extra repairs as necessary.
  • Evaluate and sanction initial estimates and supplements for claims related to mouse infestations, off-road vehicles, recreational vehicles (RVs), and motorcycles.
  • Review and approve claims processed through the virtual claims file (VCF) system.
  • Generate initial estimates for commercial vehicles.
  • Assess whether a vehicle is repairable or deemed a total loss.
  • Review completed repairs by facilities and authorize further repairs as needed based on evaluations.
  • Prepare documentation to support decisions related to claims, investigations, and potential legal proceedings.
Qualifications
  • Journeyperson Certificate (Red Seal) or equivalent qualification in Motor Vehicle Body Repair, Automotive Service Technology, or Truck and Transport Mechanics.
  • A minimum of seven years of hands-on experience in autobody repair, including at least one year in a customer service role.

OR

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of ten years of hands-on experience in autobody repair, including at least one year in a customer service role.
  • Achieved Platinum status in Estimator or Auto Physical Damage Appraiser within the I-CAR Gold Class Professionals Designation program, or a commitment to achieve and maintain this designation.
