The ideal candidate will lead a team of both office and field personnel, actively engaging in project oversight, field strategy, and the evaluation and approval of technical documentation for various projects and service sectors. A robust technical foundation in contaminated site evaluation and remediation, reclamation assessment, and site management through to reclamation certification is essential. Additionally, the candidate will play a vital role in fostering the professional development of Nwlr team members through mentorship and training.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the execution of assessment, remediation, and reclamation projects within client programs, ensuring timely and budget-compliant completion.
- Maintain financial accountability for programs by developing budgets, monitoring expenses, and ensuring deliverables meet client expectations.
- Conduct senior reviews and provide sign-off on technical work within programs, while also supporting other client initiatives as necessary.
- Provide field support and supervision as needed to fulfill program requirements.
- Delegate tasks to Senior and Intermediate project managers engaged in client programs.
- Act as a mentor and coach to team members, promoting their development to reach full potential, including on-site training.
- Collaborate as part of a team to cultivate a culture of cooperation, enhancing employee morale, productivity, and engagement.
- Establish and nurture positive client relationships to ensure ongoing project support and opportunities for expanded work.
- Regularly communicate with senior management to address program needs.
- Engage with clients, regulatory agencies, and landowners as required.
- Deliver necessary information to clients following established reporting protocols.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in reclamation and remediation, including Phase 1, 2, and 3 Environmental Site Assessments (ESA) and related reporting.
- Extensive program and project management experience, particularly in managing environmental liabilities for upstream oil and gas licensees.
- In-depth technical knowledge of Alberta Environmental Reclamation & Remediation Criteria and Guidelines relevant to environmental liability management.
- Comprehensive understanding of Alberta Environmental Criteria and Guidelines.
- Degree or Diploma in Environmental, Natural, or Soil Sciences.
- Professional designation or eligibility for professional designation with AIA, APEGA, or ASPB.
- Broad experience with pre- and post-reclamation assessments and reclamation certificate applications.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience in supervising, training, and mentoring others.
- Proficient in word processing and data management software.
