Neuromuscular Neurologist Position

Job Summary

The University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Neuromuscular Neurologist to join our esteemed team. As a key member of our Department of Medicine, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care, conducting cutting-edge research, and contributing to the academic excellence of our institution.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in outpatient neuromuscular disorder clinics, providing expert diagnosis and treatment to patients with a range of neuromuscular conditions.
• Conduct electrodiagnostic studies, including Canadian EMG certification, to aid in the diagnosis and management of neuromuscular disorders.
• Rotate on the neurology inpatient and neurology consultation services, ensuring seamless care for patients with complex neurological needs.
• Contribute to neurology academic activities, including teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, and participating in research initiatives.
• Participate in the neurology on-call rotation, providing 24/7 coverage for patients with urgent neurological needs.
• Provide a general neurology clinic, offering comprehensive care to patients with a range of neurological conditions.

Requirements

• MD degree from an accredited institution.
• Minimum one year of fellowship training in Neuromuscular Disorders.
• Member of, or eligible to be a member of, the Canadian Medical Protective Association.
• Certification in neurology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
• Licensure in Ontario.

Preferred Qualifications

• Particular interest in acquired / autoimmune neuropathies, myasthenic disorders, and strong interest in conducting clinical trials and supporting research.
• Academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher at the University of Ottawa within the Department of Medicine.
