Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Dental Assistant to join our team at BC Children's Hospital. As a key member of our dental care team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our dentists in all aspects of dentistry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist dentists with all aspects of dentistry, including patient preparation, instrument handling, and radiography.
  • Ensure accurate and complete dental and medical health records, and complete statistics for the Outpatient Department and Operating Room.
  • Maintain dental instruments and equipment, and ensure adequate supplies are available.
  • Expose and process diagnostic quality dental radiographs, and perform other related laboratory duties.
  • Perform prophylaxis, fluoride, and fissure sealant procedures, and demonstrate preventative techniques to patients.
  • Assist with quality assurance standards and documentation, and perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a recognized Certified Dental Assistant program, plus one year's recent experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Current registration and licensure as a Certified Dental Assistant, as required under the Dentist Act.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, dentists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position, with the ability to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to organize work, prioritize tasks, and maintain accurate records.
